Litigative EU and the Rights of EU Citizens
Under the Treaty of the European Union, European citizens enjoy several essential rights:

Voting Rights
Citizens have the right to vote and stand in elections for the European Parliament in any EU member state (Article 22).

Local Elections
Citizens can vote and stand in local elections in an EU country other than their own under the same conditions as nationals of that state (Article 22).

Right to Free Movement and Residence
Citizens can move freely and reside throughout the Union and work in any position (including national civil services) (Article 21).

Freedom from Discrimination
Citizens have the right not to be discriminated against based on nationality within the scope of the Treaty (Article 18).
